Database disconnect problems

If you are an existing user of SID and upgrade the program it is possible the data file will get disconnected.  If you launch the SID program and no sermons or illustrations show up in searches it is quite possible that this is what has happened.  The solution is easy.

1. Launch SID.

2. At the top of the screen on the Menu Bar, click "File".  Then click "Options..."

3. In the middle of the Options page it says "Connected Database" and below that it probably says ".\Data\kerux.mdb".  SID usually installs into a directory called SID.  It will have a subdirectory called "/data" and there you should find a file called "kerux.mdb."  This is the data file that contains all the sermons and illustrations.  Normally it is around 1.2 gigabytes in size.  If the kerux.mdb file is not there, search your hard-drive to find it.  If it is there but much smaller, it is possible it got corrupted in the download process and you should download the installation file again.

4. Once you find the "kerux.mdb" file, select it.  Then click OK on the Options page.  Search for a simple keyword like "grace" and records should appear.  If none do, contact Pastor Holwick.
