Several users have asked if there is a version of the Kerux
database that will work on Macintoshes. The two front-ends that are
currently available, Access and SID, both have Microsoft Access 97 as the
foundation. While there is no direct program for the Mac there are
possible work-arounds. User Tim gives these suggestions: Microsoft doesn’t make a Mac version of Access, and while there are some
database programs for the Mac, there’s nothing I know of that’s exactly like
Access or is fully and easily compatible with it. You could install Windows on your new Mac and boot into Windows when you
need to run Access. In my tests of Apple’s Boot Camp software for running
Windows on a Mac, Access ran quickly and well. Or you may use FilePro for the Macintosh, it is probably the best DataBase
for Mac's that there is. It is not as easy as Access, but it is good and can
read MS Access files to import them into itself. Everything will have to be
created except for the data. [In other words, you would have to come up
with your own forms, reports, etc.] Another suggestion is for the writer and creator of "SID" could compile for
MacIntosh with some changes for the MAC. Or even another solution is MS Visual
FoxPro for the Mac. If anyone comes up with an elegant solution, please contact Rev. David
Holwick.
