2005 Holwick vacation to the Southwest, page 6

We drank a lot of water during our hike.  The one thing we forgot to pack for the trip was our water filter so we had to buy (an expensive) one in Durango.  It worked like a charm, even when the pothole was only a few inches deep.

The black spots are tadpoles.  The water tasted yummy.  Really!

Beautiful views from inside Sheiks Canyon.

One of many anonymous granaries we discovered on our way out.

It got dark before we could make it to the trailhead so we laid out our sleeping bags and conked out.  It was a great night for stars - even Josiah pointed out some satellites and meteors.

This was Josiah's friend.  He told his dad, "Look at this dead thing I found under a rock!"  Then the dead thing jumped off the bark and raced for our piled up packs.  It may still be in our gear somewhere.
