The Holwicks in the Southwest, page 5, continued...

After Escalante we saw the beautiful rock formations of Bryce National Park.

I got up at the crack of dawn to take the picture on the right.  No one else bothered to crawl out of our teepee so they missed it.

After Zion we went through Las Vegas.  No casinos, but we did spend three hours in a Wendy's as our trailer was welded back together.  (It broke again in Pennsylvania)

I also broke down - poured a pot of boiling water on my leg.

As I hobbled through one of my favorite park, Sequoia, my family mocked my attempt to record this trip for posterity.  On the right, they present themselves as a sequoia tree.

Even with my wounded leg I wanted to see Chaco Canyon, the great Anasazi site in New Mexico.  The road was the worst I've ever been on, going and coming, but the ruins were very serene.
